SalemGlobal SEO Tip of the Week!
Posted by Salem Global on Jul 31, 2007
The world of Social Networking is overwhelming and complex, however SalemGlobal has learned a great deal from working with BigString.com - the coolest free email in the world. BigString.com, like all SalemGlobal clients, is interested in increasing traffic to their websites in large volume. With this service, you can self-destruct or change an email that’s already been sent and/or read. Instead of worrying about the messages you send to others being available in their inbox, you can now destroy them as a way to protect your privacy.
In addition, BigString offers a way to prevent your personal identification info from remaining in someone else’s inbox as well, restricting private images or messages from being spread further online. You can also reword a message that’s already been sent, revise a document you’ve sent along, or set an expiration date for emails. Our strategy for marketing BigString.com was blogs, blogs, and more blogs. Social Media and Social Networking are a key component to this effort, how do you go about this? SalemGlobal put together a series of tools and a directory to help you and our clients. Check these directories out here.

Search Engine Optimization, is it Rocket Science?
Posted by Salem Global on Jul 27, 2007
Recently posted to the SalemGlobal Internet Website Marketing site is a presentation that was given by CEO Raphi Salem. It might interest anyone who is wanting to learn more about website marketing, search engines and related topics. Some of the issues discussed include community building:
- Become THE Community and Industry ResourceÂ
- Just like a local newspaper is the local authority, you should become the local industry authority
- The printed word is the trusted word
- You already are A resource (for your clientele)
- Become THE LOCAL INDUSTRY resource (vs.Regional, National and Global)
- How? BUILD COMMUNITY!
- Create alliances and partnerships
- Large enough to handle anything, small enough to care

July 26, 2007: I would love to share a new tool with you.. BigString is a free email service that allows a user to easily send, recall, erase, self-destruct and modify an email after it has been sent. BigString users have unprecedented control over all of their email, whether they choose to send it through the BigString.com website or even Microsoft Outlook.
It is inevitable. At one point or another in your life, you’ve sent an email to a colleague, client, family member or significant other that’s been highly regrettable. Even before pressing send, you knew it was a bad idea, yet you rolled the dice and clicked anyway, only to cringe at what you wrote later on. http://www.bigstring.com/

Web 2.0 Directories & Search Engines

SalemGlobal Internet Website Marketing thinks you should see Web 2.0 Directories & Search Engines
Go2Web20.net
http://www.go2web20.net
This site is a fantastic search engine and directory for everything Web 2.0. It’s worth a visit just to look at the on-site search function. It is tag- and keyword cloud-based, which in English means that the search field box asks you to select a keyword tag. Click on the arrow to do so, and you see a keyword cloud of written keywords, in which the most popular are in larger font sizes. Search results are presented in a grid where each square shows the logo of the company whose business involves your chosen keyword. As you mouse over each logo you see a bubble with a description of what that company does. It’s very Web 2.0-ish.
For example, we chose “collaboration” and were served up dozens of companies. Businesses ranged from project collaboration software to research communities to websites which allow families to jointly create and build their family trees or plan family trips. A must-visit for anyone interested in Web 2.0 marketing, businesses and software.
SalemGlobal SEO Tip of the Week

It is helpful to consider multiple variations of important keywords, and all possible combinations thereof. Our ongoing project for a Long Island Neurosurgery practice illustrates this point.
We began with a Pay-per-Click campaign to bring them immediate results while building up the longer-term strategy of getting clicks from the organic (free) search results. When choosing keywords for the PPC campaign, we are not constrained by a limited number of keywords, as we are with the organic optimization for each page. PPC can include a huge number of variations - such as neurosurgery/neurosurgeon/neurosurgeons, combined with LI/Long Island/NY/NYC and many other geographical names, as well as other keywords and teir variations. These and other combinations can yield a very large number of similar keyword phrases - but at no cost, since we pay only for clicks - and we can further refine the campaign to choose lower cost-per-click keywords and thus yield more clicks within the same budget.
We are also helping to ensure that we get the best possible position, as each of these keywords in specific combinations will bid for ads on those specific searches. Finally, the data gathered in the PPC campaign can be helpful in determining the best of the keywords to optimize web pages for the organic results.
