People Capital Launches Human Capital Score College Planning Tool
Posted by Aryeh.Landowne on Oct 20, 2009
New York, October 19, 2009, People Capital (www.People2Capital.com), a Web resource for college students to obtain student loans via an online lending exchange, has launched the Human Capital Score™ College Planning Tool (www.HumanCapitalScore.com). The new Web tool is designed for students (and college planning consultants) who want to use the Human Capital Score™ to compare multiple projected income scenarios based on colleges they are considering attending.
The Human Capital Score College™ Planning Tool is a Web based college scenario planner that is targeted for students who are planning to go to college and need help measuring the economic value of various schools they are considering. Namely, the tool can help students decide whether it is worth the money spent to go to one school as compared to another, based on the income potential from the academic choices they make. The planning tool works when a user inputs key data about themselves (GPA, SAT scores, planned college major) and the various schools they are considering. The tool then calculates the data and presents a graph and chart documenting results of several scenarios (up to five maximum) of the user’s potential income 10 years after graduation, allowing the user to compare the results between colleges she is considering. This tool can also be used by college planning consultants and high school guidance counselors with a professional version available for their consulting needs.
The Human Capital Score™ College Planning Tool is predicated on the Human Capital Score™, a Web calculator developed and launched earlier this year by People Capital. Built on research developed at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania Insurance Department, the Human Capital Score™ helps students assess their student loan risk by using academic merit data such as GPA, standardized test scores, college and major, along with traditional demographics data and metrics, to give insight into their future earnings potential.
“Since launching the Human Capital Score™ earlier this year, we have received feedback from users who found the tool helpful and insightful, but thought that the ability to compare various college scenarios would be an added benefit,” said Thomas Shelton, founder and CEO of People Capital. “The Human Capital Score™ College Planning Tool now adds this level of functionality; as students can use it to create multiple scenarios to help them better evaluate their loan risk, future potential earning income and possibly the college or university they will spend the next several years at.”
The Human Capital Score™ College Planning Tool is available in three tiers of pricing:
- $19.95 – Compare and contrast up to two scenarios at a time, for one time use only
- $29.95 – Compare and contrast up to five scenarios at a time, for one time use only
- $199.95 – Compare and contrast up to five scenarios at a time for six months with unlimited usage

Hyundai Knocks Out Ford For #4 Spot in the World
Posted by Aryeh.Landowne on Aug 13, 2009
Toyota, GM, VW and now Hyundai!
Hyundai-Kia has replaced Ford as the world’s 4th best auto maker. The ranking, reported by Automotive News on Sunday, is based on global automotive sales. Hyundai-Kia sold 2.153 million cars between January 2009 and June 2009 to drop Ford, which sold 2.145 million cars, to number 5 in the world.
Since 2000, when it ranked 10th on the list, Hyundai has risen in the rankings and has held the 5th spot since 2007. Experts didn’t think number 4 was attainable for Hyundai this year since its trailed Ford by over one million cars sold in 2008. But due to the economic situation in the US, Ford’s sales dropped by 30% over the last year, enabling Hyundai-Kia to grab the fourth spot.
Experts suggest that Hyundai-Kia may even rise to the third spot within a few years due to the separation between General Motors and Opel, which handles GM’s production and sales in Europe, in addition to the economic situation in the US.
Jump on the bandwagon and become part of Hyundai’s rise in the rankings by going to WorldHyundaiMatteson.com, the #1 Chicago Hyundai Dealer.
People Capital Poised to Launch Peer-to-Peer Lending Platform This Fall
Posted by Aryeh.Landowne on Aug 11, 2009
People Capital is putting the finishing touches on their innovative new peer to peer student lending platform. Their new site is on schedule to launch this fall. The platform will enable students to apply for and receive private student loans from individual investors as opposed to traditional lending institutions.
Using their patented Human Capital Score, People Capital can match students seeking funds for their education with investors looking to lend. Both parties involved win. The investors provide legally protected private student loans, which are not bankrupt-able. And the students get a loan at a reasonable rate, which might not have been possible due to their short or non-existent credit history, which is what most banks use to determine loan rates.
Check them out at www.people2capital.com and keep an eye out for the launch of their peer-to-peer lending platform this fall.

Customer Service Management Sets You Apart From The Competition.
Posted by Aryeh.Landowne on Jul 15, 2009
Many businesses think customer service is just one aspect of their business and it often gets lost as businesses focus more on product development or sales or marketing. But in today’s market there is so much competition, and often the competition is better than you or offers exactly what you offer. So how do you differentiate your business from your competition?
Customer Experience Management or CEM is a business strategy that focuses and redefines your business from your customer’s viewpoint. It involves all aspects of your business, from marketing and research to product development and pricing. Today all it takes is one bad experience to hurt your company. For example, Eric writes a popular blog about technology. He is looking to purchase a new HD television. After much consideration he picks out a “PannaSony” Plasma TV, purchases it, sets it up and begins watching. Halfway through the first episode of Mad Men, half his screen goes black. He calls customer service and waits on hold for hours before finally he reaches someone who is no help to him, All it takes is one blog post on Eric’s blog for thousands of his readers to hear about how bad PannaSony’s customer service is.
Enter Strativity. Strativity can help your company implement a Customer Experience Management strategy and improve your company’s customer experience and in doing so improve the company’s reputation for service, which will set you apart from the competition. With good customer service Eric, the blogger, might still write a blog post about his new TV’s issues but instead of a post bashing the customer service at PannaSony, he writes about his pleasant experience on the phone with a real person and how they sent someone to install a new model within a week.
A positive experience published in a blog can go a long way to sway potential customers or clients and the first step is to actually make your customer service the best it can be. And for that there is Strativity.
Eva’s Village, a Comprehensive New Jersey Anti-Poverty charity, Seeks Additional Funding to Meet the Increasing Need Along with a Decline in Donations
Posted by Aryeh.Landowne on May 27, 2009
Eva’s Village (http://www.EvasVillage.org), a comprehensive New Jersey anti-poverty charity, is experiencing an increase in need in 2009, and a decline in foundation grants and individual gifts — Eva’s Village, Paterson, New Jersey, seeks additional funding to meet the increasing need.
Paterson, NJ (PRWEB) May 27, 2009 – Eva’s Village describes an increase in their NJ anti-poverty programs and a decline in foundation grants and gifts from direct-mail appeals as “disturbing”, and is actively seeking support for their New Jersey anti-poverty programs during the current economic recession.
It’s not a surprise that the need for anti-poverty programs in New Jerseyis growing during the current New Jersey economic crises. But the increasing need is becoming disturbing indeed. In 2008, Eva’s Village served 120,777 hot, nutritious lunches, an increase of 7.3% over the same time period in 2007. More recently, over 400 people were served in one day where previously, the need averaged 260. Eva’s Village Free Medical and Dental Care Clinic in New Jersey is also noticing an increase in those seeking medical and dental care at its free clinic.
The faces of poverty in New Jersey can be seen at noon every day, 365 days a year at Eva’s Village New Jersey soup kitchen in Paterson, NJ. There are the chronic New Jersey homeless, but also veterans, the addicted, mentally ill, elderly, poor, and increasingly, New Jersey’s working poor.
Sister Gloria Perez, Executive Director of Eva’s Village, defines New Jersey’s working poor as “…those who work at one or even multiple minimum wage or sub-minimum wage jobs, but still don’t make enough to support themselves or their families.” She is careful to point out that the working poor resist government aid or charity, but as jobs become scarce, they have no choice. Sister Gloria says, “We have New Jersey fathers and mothers coming to eat their one meal per day here, so they can give their share at home to the family.”
While Eva’s Village has been aggressively seeking donations, it has experienced a decline in overall giving for its anti-poverty programs. More than half of the revenue that supports the Eva’s Village mission to “feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, treat the addicted and provide free medical and dental care to the poor,” comes from donations from corporate, private foundations, individuals and civic groups.
A new research advisory from Foundation Center shows foundation giving is expected to decrease in 2009. The Foundation Center reported that 62 percent of the 430 foundations surveyed expect to reduce their grant making this year. In fact, Eva’s Village has received notification from numerous foundations noting that they are not distributing funds at this time because they are redirecting the interests of their foundation or because funds have already been allocated early in the calendar year.
Although they have noted some decreases in their fundraising effectiveness, Eva’s Village has also been proactive in anticipating these difficulties and has added additional fundraising strategies. Noting that some foundations were decreasing distributions, Eva’s Village searched for new corporate and private foundations for funding, as well as new opportunities for New Jersey State and local funding of anti-poverty programs. In anticipation of reduced direct-mail appeal fundraising, Eva’s Village added additional appeals such as a successful “Back to School” appeal in September to help fund a recently expanded Hope Residence for Mothers and Children.
Realizing that they needed to host a fundraising event that would draw participants from a broader population, Eva’s Village added a new fundraising event this year, titled the “Journey of Hope” 5K Walk/Run to be held September 26, 2009 at Garret Mountain Reservation, Woodland Park (West Paterson), NJ. The New Jersey charity is looking to increase the participation of smaller businesses as sponsors as well as enlisting the help of area youth in raising New Jersey charitable contributions.
Donna Marie Fico, Chief Marketing Office at Eva’s Village, notes that they are very grateful for the support of corporate and private charitable foundations, government grants, New Jersey businesses and thousands of dedicated private donors. Ms. Fico says, “During this time of economic uncertainty, it is important to be both creative and cost-effective in how we conduct our fundraising.” She reports that as one of the most respected, comprehensive and effective anti-poverty organizations in the state of New Jersey, Eva’s Village receives high marks for efficiency, including a http://www.evasvillage.org/whygive.html Four-Star rating by [Charity Navigator __title__ Support Anti-Poverty Programs indicating that Eva’s Village “Exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its Cause” (Charity Navigator).
Originally a New Jersey soup kitchen, Eva’s Village was founded in 1982 by Msgr. Vincent E. Puma in response to the increasing incidence of homelessness in Paterson, NJ. But Msgr. Puma soon realized that another New Jersey soup kitchen was not enough. With the generous support of thousands of donors and private and government grants, Eva’s Village has grown into the most respected anti-poverty program in New Jersey, with a four-star (maximum) rating by Charity Navigator, an independent non-profit monitor.

Eva’s Village Seeks Funding to Meet an Increase in the Number of Uninsured and Underinsured Visiting Their Free Homeless Healthcare Clinic
Posted by Edan Shertzer on Apr 28, 2009
Eva’s Village, (http://www.evasvillage.org) , Paterson, NJ, reports an increase in the numbers of homeless and working poor seeking primary medical and dental care at their homeless healthcare clinic. Eva’s Village is actively seeking charitable donations to support healthcare for the homeless during the current economic crisis.
Paterson, NJ (PRWEB) April 28, 2009 Eva’s Village, Paterson, NJ, Eva’s Village primary care medical and dental clinic provides healthcare for the homeless to more than 4,000 patient visits each year.”
Paterson is one of New Jersey’s poorest cities. Homelessness and healthcare for the homeless is a growing problem in the city in the best of times and even more so during the current economic crisis. In 2005, more than 24% of Paterson’s residents already lived below the poverty line and compared to the state of New Jersey overall, Paterson households earn nearly $23,000 less than their fellow citizens. Paterson’s unemployment rate has consistently been 3-4% higher than the state of New Jersey overall, which as of March 2009 was 8.3%.
Eva’s Village, located in the heart of Paterson, at 393 Main Street, has been a source of food, shelter, recovery services and healthcare for the homeless in Paterson New Jersey for more than 25 years. Sister Gloria Perez, Executive Director of Eva’s Village says, “Many of the homeless are more concerned with meeting their immediate needs for food and shelter than with seeking healthcare, but during the past several months, we are providing more service to the uninsured working poor seeking medical and dental care.” Sister Gloria explains that the working poor include those working minimum wage jobs or multiple below-minimum wage jobs who still cannot make ends meet.
In a Commonwealth Fund, national telephone survey (2007), it was shown that there has been a sharp increase in the number of underinsured people. Those with household incomes below 200 percent of poverty were more likely to be uninsured or underinsured (72%) compared to higher income adults (27%). African Americans and Hispanics are more likely than whites to be uninsured or underinsured.
Lack of health insurance compromises the health of the uninsured because they receive less preventive care, are diagnosed at more advanced disease stages, and once diagnosed, tend to receive less therapeutic care and have higher mortality rates than insured individuals. As health related issues push more New Jersey citizens into poverty, healthcare for the homeless becomes a growing concern.
Eva’s Primary Care Clinic is one of only five truly free primary care clinics providing healthcare for the homeless in the state of New Jersey that does not charge patients for its services. The Clinic is staffed by a Medical Director, eight volunteer Nurse Practitioners/nurses, volunteer dentists and volunteer podiatrists. It offers an array of homeless healthcare services including basic screening and assessment, primary care, dental care, immunizations, routine acute care, medication monitoring, referral, and follow-up.
Eva’s Free Dental Care Clinic opened in 2002 under the leadership of Dr. Brian Ullmann to offer compassionate, free dental care as critical primary healthcare for the homeless. The Clinic’s volunteer staff offers a range of services including emergency and preventive care, diagnosis and restoration, root canals, partial and complete dentures, and oral surgery. Sister Gloria says, “Many of our clients have not seen a dentist for more than 30 years. As part of our homeless healthcare, we are able to provide them with a new smile, giving them health, hope, dignity and an appearance appropriate for job interviews.”
Funding of the Eva’s Village homeless healthcare clinic is dependent on foundation/corporate grants and private charitable donations, both of which are jeopardized by the current economic crisis in New Jersey. Eva’s Village is actively seeking charitable contributions to help support their clinic, including funding, equipment, medications and other supplies.
Eva’s Village continues to dream of expanding their comprehensive anti-poverty programs, including: thousands of meals provided by Eva’s Kitchen to the poor, Eva’s Village shelter residents, residential addiction treatment clients, new Hope Residence of St. Frances for Women and Children (created to assist mothers more commonly required to give up their children to foster care), Eva’s Medical and Dental Clinic, Eva’s Job Readiness Center, and soon, fifty units of affordable housing. A new larger clinic is in the sites for a future expansion.
Donna Marie Fico, Chief Marketing Office at Eva’s Village, cites the support of private charitable foundations, New Jersey businesses/corporations and thousands of dedicated private donors as encouragement. Ms. Fico says, “It is not only important to ask for increased help, but to let donors know that Eva’s Village acts responsibly so their money makes a significant difference in healthcare for the homeless. She reports that as one of the most respected, progressive and effective anti-poverty organizations in the state of New Jersey, Eva’s Village receives high marks for efficiency, including a Four-Star rating by Charity Navigator indicating that Eva’s Village “Exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its Cause” (Charity Navigator).

Puma soon realized that a soup kitchen was not enough. With the generous support of thousands of donors and private and government grants, Eva’s has grown into the most respected anti-poverty program in New Jersey, with a four-star (maximum) rating by Charity Navigator, an independent non-profit monitor.
