Director of Digital Media SUMMARY
JTA, the Global News Service of the Jewish People, seeks a highly creative and technology-savvy professional to lead JTA’s digital strategy, direct its Web site and manage its array of electronic product offerings. We seek someone with superb project management skills, a strong content background, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, vendors and in-house staff. He/she will have the skills, track record and energy to build JTA’s brand, traffic, readership and revenue.
JTA is the leading source of news about Jewish issues and news developments around the globe. Stories written by our worldwide staff appear on JTA’s state-of-the-art Web site, in an array of electronic publications, and in a variety of other digital formats. JTA also serves as the primary source of international content for more than 100 Jewish newspapers and Web sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• produce and maintain a cutting-edge Web site, coordinating the design, acquisition and placement of all content and related applications
• oversee the production of all electronic publications and digital applications
• supervise JTA’s small online and production team effectively
• monitor and promote usage of JTA’s Web site and electronic publications
• work to develop and promote new digital products and services
• provide technical support to new and existing clients
• manage relationships with vendors providing Web site hosting, technical, design and promotional services
QUALIFICATIONS
• ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and work successfully on deadline
• detailed knowledge of current and emerging digital technologies
• a flair for graphic design and experience working with photos
• command of technical knowledge needed to design Web sites
• strong track record in building traffic, readership and revenue
• knack for solving problems and working within budget constraints
• familiarity with Jewish communal issues (not required but helpful)
EXPERIENCE
• minimum of 3 years’ experience in Web site production
• writing and editing experience, preferably in journalism
• proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, JavaScript, other Web applications
