I should mention here that Alexa rankings are not the end all be all. You should ALWAYS be looking at your bottom line. I tell this to my BNI group all the time. Whatever marketing you are doing whether it is offline or online, it must have ROI. That ROI must be accountable and measurable. So if you are spending more than you are making, then that form of marketing isn’t for you. And if NOTHING is working and you have tried everything, you should reconsider the business you are in. Alexa rankings are an independent somewhat accurate accounting with I estimate a 10-20% margin of error. Though I would like for them to be completely 100% accurate, that is not realistic. Fact is that the rankings can only be based on people who have actually downloaded the alexa toolbar. So granted they might have millions of downloads, it still does not compare to the hundreds of millions of web users around the world…

That said, I am still going to use them as an indicator because no one has pointed out anything better to me. And if you can, please do and I will write about YOU and IT. Ok - that’s enough for one post. Let the games continue…
