SalemGlobal Internet Website Marketing was happy to attend the New York Expo for business!
Entrepreneurs who hope to turn the “next big idea” into the next big fortune turned out by the thousands for this year’s New York Xpo for Business at the Javits Center. NY1′s Lindley Pless filed the following report on what sort of advice was on tap.
The city’s largest business-to-business event, the second-ever New York Xpo for Business, drew more than 15,000 people to the Javits Center on Wednesday.
Most in attendance were entrepreneurs hoping to get advice about how to help their businesses take off.
“I think that everyone is here for same purpose and that is to meet each other. To find out what the trends are. How we can get our products out into the market, as well as to come and make our own offerings,†said one attendee.
Time Warner Cable and NY1 News sponsored the event, and Howard Szarfarc, the president of Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey, says the company got involved because it realizes the value of nurturing small businesses and helping them succeed.
“Many of us think the heart and soul of New York and New York’s economic machine is small business,†he said. “And small businesses have challenges. They are aggressively trying to find new customers, run their business, and they need services. They don’t always have time to find the services they need at a good price and the right product for them.â€
More than 600 booths filled the floor, offering everything from quotes for insurance coverage to a nifty little bike that can be hired to advertise for your company. President of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce President Nancy Ploeger says her outfit is also eager to help people grow their businesses.
“The real keys in today’s world to survive are to have a really good website,†said Ploeger. “Make sure it’s very vibrant. Make sure you have a very strong business plan and you stick to it. You have to have a good advertising package and good public relations.â€
NY1 even had its own booth for people to learn how the station is run. The booth featured an appearance by NY1’s “Inside City Hall†anchor Dominic Carter and a life-size cutout of NY1 anchor Pat Kiernan.
